Etimesgut Air Base — Ankara, Turkey

Etimesgut Air Base, carrying the code ANK, is a Turkish Air Force installation west of Ankara, perched 2,653 feet above sea level with a single active runway. The base is jointly run by the Air Force and the Turkish Aeronautical Association, whose flight school occupies the southern portion of the field and trains civilian pilots alongside the military presence. Unlike what travelers might expect from an airport code tied to the capital, this is not Ankara's main passenger terminal; that role belongs to Esenboğa, well outside the city on its northern edge. Etimesgut instead centers on military aviation, flight training, and periodic air shows rather than scheduled commercial departures.
