Aurillac airport — Aurillac, France

Aurillac Airport (AUR) serves the city of Aurillac in south-central France, within the mountainous Cantal department of the Auvergne region. Perched 2,096 feet above sea level, Aurillac Airport counts among the higher civilian airfields in the country, a mark of the volcanic highland terrain surrounding it. A single runway supports limited scheduled domestic flights alongside general aviation traffic. Aurillac's location deep within the Massif Central makes air travel a useful option for reaching Paris without a lengthy drive through winding mountain roads. Passenger numbers remain modest, typical of small regional French airports serving less densely populated rural departments. The surrounding Cantal countryside is known for cheese production and volcanic landscapes rather than major industry.
