Chile Chico Airport — Chile Chico, Chile

Chile Chico Airport supports a small town of the same name on the southern shore of General Carrera Lake, a vast turquoise body of water shared with Argentina deep in Chilean Patagonia's Aysen Region. Isolation defines the area, with the CCH airstrip offering a faster alternative to the long, often unpaved highway journey or ferry crossings that otherwise connect Chile Chico to the rest of Chilean Patagonia. Tourists increasingly pass through en route to the Marble Caves, striking wind- and wave-carved rock formations rising from the lake's brilliant blue waters a short boat ride from town. Orchards and a comparatively mild microclimate, unusual for Patagonia, support small-scale fruit farming around Chile Chico despite the region's generally harsh, windswept reputation. Limited scheduled flights and mostly general aviation traffic characterize operations here, reflecting the sparse population scattered across this remote borderland district.
