Chernivtsi International Airport — Chernivtsi, Ukraine

Chernivtsi International Airport, known by the code CWC, sits on the edge of a city once celebrated as 'Little Vienna' for its Austro-Hungarian architecture and multicultural past in western Ukraine's Bukovina region. Close to the borders with Romania and Moldova, the airport historically offered modest domestic and limited international connections for a city better known for its ornate university buildings than for aviation. Since the closure of Ukrainian civilian airspace amid the full-scale war that began in 2022, scheduled commercial flights through CWC have been suspended, leaving the facility largely dormant while the surrounding region continues functioning day to day.
