Da Nang International Airport — Da Nang, Vietnam

Fighter jets and transport planes once dominated the ramp here, when DAD functioned as one of the busiest military airbases anywhere during the Vietnam War, hosting American and South Vietnamese air operations at remarkable scale. Decades later those same runways serve a coastal city transformed into one of Vietnam's premier beach destinations, with easy access to the ancient trading port of Hoi An and the hillside pagodas of Ba Na Hills. DAD retains dual civilian-military status, a common arrangement at Vietnamese airports, and ranks as the country's third-busiest gateway behind the hubs serving Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. International charter and scheduled flights from East Asia have grown steadily, reflecting Da Nang's rising profile as a resort city rather than merely a wartime stopover.
