Dien Bien Phu Airport — Dien Bien Phu, Vietnam

DIN identifies Dien Bien Phu Airport in northwestern Vietnam, near the site of the pivotal 1954 battle that ended French colonial rule in Indochina. Located in a remote valley close to the Laos border, the airport serves the town of Dien Bien Phu with domestic flights primarily connecting to Hanoi. Its mountainous surroundings and relatively short runway historically limited it to smaller aircraft, though upgrades have expanded capacity for larger jets and increased tourism access. Travelers use DIN to reach the battlefield memorials, museums, and cemeteries commemorating the historic siege, as well as to explore the ethnically diverse highlands of Vietnam's far northwest. It remains a modest regional airport rather than a major traffic hub.
