Funafuti International Airport — Funafuti, Tuvalu

FUN is the fittingly memorable code for Funafuti International Airport, the only airport serving Tuvalu, one of the world's smallest and most remote island nations in the Pacific. The airport's runway occupies much of the width of Funafuti atoll, doubling as a community gathering space when flights are not operating. FUN connects Tuvalu to Fiji via limited weekly service, representing the country's sole scheduled international air link. Given Tuvalu's extreme vulnerability to sea level rise, the airport also holds symbolic significance in discussions of climate change and small island nations facing existential geographic threats.
