Qiemo Yudu Airport — Qiemo, China

IQM is the IATA code for Qiemo Yudu Airport, serving Qiemo (Cherchen) county in the southeastern Tarim Basin of Xinjiang, China. Ringed by desert and the Kunlun Mountains, this remote oasis town sits along the ancient southern Silk Road route. The airport functions as a small regional gateway, connecting Qiemo to hub cities such as Urumqi and reducing what would otherwise be a long overland journey across arid terrain. Given the county's sparse population and isolated position, IQM primarily supports local government travel, resource industries, and limited tourism tied to nearby archaeological and desert sites. Flight frequency is modest, reflecting the airport's role as a lifeline rather than a major traffic hub, but it remains an important link for a community otherwise cut off by vast stretches of the Taklamakan Desert.
