Priština Adem Jashari International Airport — Prishtina, Kosovo

Kosovo's principal airport, Priština Adem Jashari International Airport, coded PRN, stands as the country's only facility handling scheduled commercial traffic, a singular importance heightened by Kosovo's contested international status and the resulting limits on some diplomatic and travel arrangements. The airport bears the name of Adem Jashari, a founding commander of the Kosovo Liberation Army killed along with much of his family during a 1998 assault by Serbian forces, an event widely regarded as a catalyst for the conflict that followed. Since Kosovo's 1999 war and subsequent 2008 declaration of independence, PRN has grown steadily, with low-cost carriers expanding connections to Germany, Switzerland, and other Western European countries home to large Kosovar diaspora communities. Remittances and family visits tied to that diaspora make up a substantial share of the airport's passenger base, alongside a smaller but growing tourism sector centered on Kosovo's mountains and historic towns.
