Shenyang Taoxian International Airport — Shenyang, China

Shenyang, capital of Liaoning Province and historically the largest city in the region once known as Manchuria, receives its air traffic through Shenyang Taoxian International Airport, in an area that became one of China's earliest and most significant centers of heavy industry during the twentieth century. SHE connects Shenyang to major domestic hubs across China as well as a growing number of international routes to Russia, South Korea, Japan, and other nearby countries, reflecting the city's position near China's northeastern borders and its historical trading and cultural ties to neighboring East Asian nations. Shenyang itself carries deep historical weight as the site of the Mukden Palace, home to early Qing dynasty emperors before the dynasty's court moved to Beijing, giving the city a claim to imperial heritage distinct from most other northeastern Chinese cities. The airport has expanded its terminal facilities in recent years to keep pace with rising passenger demand from the broader Liaoning industrial region.
