Stornoway Airport — Stornoway, Western Isles, United Kingdom

Stornoway Airport, coded SYY, is located on the Isle of Lewis in Scotland's Outer Hebrides, serving as the main air gateway to the Western Isles. The airport provides vital connections to Glasgow, Edinburgh, and Inverness, linking this remote island community to mainland Scotland year-round. Given the unpredictable weather and rough seas that can disrupt ferry crossings, SYY plays an especially important role in ensuring reliable transportation for residents, medical patients, and businesses. The airport also supports Scotland's Highlands and Islands air discount scheme, helping keep travel costs manageable for islanders. Stornoway itself is the largest town in the Outer Hebrides, known for Harris Tweed production and Gaelic culture, and the airport underpins both its economy and its connectivity to the wider United Kingdom.
