Tibooburra Airport — , Australia

Tibooburra Airport serves one of the most remote and sparsely populated corners of New South Wales, Australia, deep in the outback near the borders with Queensland and South Australia. TYB supports the Royal Flying Doctor Service and small charter operations essential to residents of this arid, sun-scorched region where distances between towns can stretch for hundreds of kilometers. Tibooburra itself is a tiny settlement known for its granite outcrops, historic gold-mining past, and extreme summer temperatures. The airport represents a critical lifeline for emergency medical evacuation and supply access in a landscape where road travel can be unreliable during flooding or extreme heat. TYB exemplifies the vital role small outback airstrips play across rural Australia.
