Ölgii Mongolei International Airport — Ölgii, Mongolia

Ölgii Mongolei International Airport, coded ULG, sits in the remote western Mongolian province of Bayan-Ölgii, a region dominated by the Altai Mountains and home to Mongolia's Kazakh minority. Despite modest passenger numbers, the airport carries international designation and connects the isolated province with the capital Ulaanbaatar via domestic carriers. Ölgii serves as a gateway for travelers pursuing adventure tourism, including trekking, horseback expeditions, and the renowned Golden Eagle Festival celebrating traditional falconry. The surrounding terrain of snow-capped peaks and nomadic herding communities makes ground travel slow, giving the airfield outsized importance for reaching this culturally distinct corner of Mongolia despite its limited infrastructure and seasonal weather constraints.
