Ulyanovsk Vostochny Airport — Cherdakly, Russia

Ulyanovsk Vostochny Airport, identified by the code ULY, features one of the longest runways in Russia, originally built to support the Antonov An-124 heavy transport aircraft manufacturing and testing programs based in Ulyanovsk. Beyond its industrial origins, ULY has increasingly been used for aircraft storage, given ample apron space and lower operating costs compared to congested hubs. The airport also accommodates limited passenger and cargo flights, though its primary reputation rests on aviation manufacturing ties to the nearby Aviastar-SP plant. Ulyanovsk's dual-airport arrangement, with Vostochny handling heavy industrial operations, highlights the city's long-standing importance within Russia's aerospace and aircraft production sector.
