Umeå Airport — Umeå, Sweden

Umeå Airport, known by the code UME, lies a short distance from Umeå, a riverside city on Sweden's northern coast near the Gulf of Bothnia. It functions as the principal air gateway for Västerbotten county, connecting residents, students, and businesses to Stockholm and other Swedish cities on a steady schedule of domestic flights. Umeå itself is a youthful university town, home to Umeå University and a reputation for design and the arts, having once held the title of European Capital of Culture. The airport's role grows more pronounced in winter, when snow and long dark days make reliable air links essential for reaching the rest of the country. Alongside passenger traffic, UME supports cargo movement and occasional charter service, tying this northern region into Sweden's broader transport network despite its distance from the capital and southern population centers.
