Ili Yining International Airport — Ili (Yining / Ghulja), China

YIN denotes Ili Yining International Airport, located in Yining city within the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of China. Positioned near the border with Kazakhstan, the airport serves the culturally distinct Ili Valley, an area known for its blend of Han, Uyghur, and Kazakh communities along with striking natural scenery including lavender fields and mountain lakes. Yining International connects the region to major Chinese cities such as Urumqi and Beijing, supporting trade, tourism, and cross-cultural travel in this borderland region. Despite its international designation, most traffic through YIN remains domestic, reflecting its role primarily as a regional hub. The airport has become increasingly important as tourism to the Ili Valley's landscapes continues to grow.
