Hakkari Yüksekova Airport — Hakkari, Turkey

Hakkari Yüksekova Airport, assigned the code YKO, serves the town of Yüksekova in Turkey's mountainous Hakkari Province near the borders with Iran and Iraq. Built to improve connectivity in this rugged, historically underserved southeastern region, the airport provides scheduled domestic flights linking Yüksekova to Ankara and Istanbul, reducing dependence on lengthy overland travel through difficult terrain. YKO supports both civilian passenger traffic and strategic military logistics given the province's sensitive border location. The airport has been significant for regional economic development, tourism to the Cilo-Sat mountains, and improved access for residents of one of Turkey's most geographically isolated provinces. Its opening marked a notable infrastructure milestone for Hakkari.
