Stony Rapids Airport — Stony Rapids, Canada

Stony Rapids Airport, coded YSF, serves a small fly-in community in far northern Saskatchewan near Lake Athabasca, deep within the province's remote Canadian Shield wilderness. With no year-round road access, YSF functions as the lifeline for the community, delivering groceries, mail, medical supplies, and passenger transport to residents largely of Dene and Metis heritage. The airport also supports outfitters running fishing and hunting lodges that attract visitors to the pristine northern lakes surrounding Stony Rapids. Given the extreme isolation of this subarctic region, seasonal ice roads offer only limited alternative access, making YSF's gravel runway indispensable to daily life there.
