Ekibastuz Airport — Ekibastuz, Kazakhstan

Ekibastuz Airport carries the code EKB and serves the industrial city of Ekibastuz in Kazakhstan's Pavlodar Region, an area known for large-scale coal mining and power generation. The airport historically supported flights connecting this mining hub to larger Kazakh cities, facilitating travel for workers and residents tied to the region's energy industry. Ekibastuz itself grew rapidly around its coal basin and massive thermal power stations, and EKB functioned as a regional gateway reducing dependence on long overland journeys across the steppe. Service levels at EKB have varied over the years alongside broader shifts in Kazakhstan's domestic aviation network, with the airport primarily handling smaller aircraft rather than international traffic.
