Hingurakgoda Air Force Base — Polonnaruwa Town, Sri Lanka

HIM is the IATA code for Hingurakgoda Air Force Base, a military airfield near Polonnaruwa in north-central Sri Lanka. Operated by the Sri Lanka Air Force, the base has historically supported military transport and training operations, and it lies close to the ancient city of Polonnaruwa, one of the country's cultural heritage sites. Unlike major Sri Lankan gateways such as Colombo, HIM does not handle scheduled commercial passenger traffic; its role is primarily defense-related, occasionally supplemented by disaster-relief or government flights into the region. Its remote, agricultural surroundings mean facilities are modest compared to civilian international airports elsewhere on the island.
