Qianjiang Wulingshan Airport — Qianjiang, China

JIQ is the code for Qianjiang Wulingshan Airport, which serves Qianjiang District in Chongqing Municipality, China, near the Wulingshan mountain range for which it is named. The airport opened to improve access to this mountainous, historically underdeveloped part of southeastern Chongqing, an area known for karst landscapes and ethnic minority communities including the Tujia and Miao. Domestic flights connect JIQ to major Chinese cities, supporting tourism to the Wuling Mountain scenic areas as well as local economic development. As with many regional Chinese airports built in the 2010s, JIQ was constructed partly to reduce the isolation of a rugged inland region lacking high-speed rail.
