Kertajati International Airport — Kertajati, Indonesia

Kertajati International Airport opened in 2018 in West Java, Indonesia, built as a large-scale project intended to relieve congestion at Bandung's Husein Sastranegara Airport and eventually serve as a major hub for the region. KJT features a sizable runway capable of handling wide-body aircraft and was designed with ambitions for both passenger and cargo traffic, including plans tied to the nearby Patimban Port and industrial zones. However, Kertajati has faced persistent underutilization since opening, with lower-than-projected passenger numbers and periods of very limited scheduled service. Indonesian authorities have periodically revisited plans to boost usage through relocated routes, low-cost carrier operations, and cargo logistics development.
