Osh International Airport — Osh, Kyrgyzstan

In the Fergana Valley near Kyrgyzstan's border with Uzbekistan, OSS serves Osh, a city whose bazaars and layered history along the ancient Silk Road make it one of Central Asia's oldest continuously inhabited settlements. As the country's second airport after Manas in Bishkek, it handles a meaningful share of domestic traffic along with routes to Russia that reflect the scale of Kyrgyz labor migration northward. The surrounding terrain, ringed by the foothills of the Pamir-Alay mountain system, gives arriving flights a dramatic backdrop and occasionally complicates approaches during poor weather. Osh's economic life centers on trade and agriculture tied to the fertile valley around it, and the airport functions as the practical gateway for the country's southern regions, an area historically distinct from the capital in both geography and culture. Expansion projects over the years have aimed to modernize a terminal that long lagged behind Bishkek's.
