Albacete Airport / Los Llanos Air Base — Albacete, Spain

Albacete Airport shares its single runway with the Los Llanos Air Base, 2,302 feet above sea level in Castilla-La Mancha, in the middle of the Spanish mainland. The dual civil-military role is built into the very name of the field, which supports both scheduled civilian flights and the base's military activity. Castilla-La Mancha is a large, sparsely populated interior region south of Madrid, and Albacete functions as one of its main air links. Passenger volume here stays modest compared with Spain's coastal airports, reflecting the province's inland, largely agricultural character rather than heavy tourist demand.
