Qionghai Bo'ao Airport — Qionghai (Basuo), China

Qionghai Bo'ao Airport serves Qionghai on the eastern coast of Hainan, China's island province in the South China Sea. Hainan's coastal lowlands keep this field close to the waterline too, with the runway sitting just 30 feet up and handling domestic routes to mainland Chinese cities. Haikou Meilan International Airport, Hainan's largest, lies about 88 kilometers to the northwest, while Sanya Phoenix International Airport sits roughly 144 kilometers to the south. Zhanjiang Wuchuan International Airport, across the strait on the Chinese mainland, is about 261 kilometers away. BAR spares Hainan's eastern coast the longer drive to the island's two bigger airports at Haikou and Sanya.
