Chiayi Airport — Shuishang, Taiwan

Chiayi Airport, coded CYI, sits in Shuishang Township and gives central-southern Taiwan's Chiayi region a small domestic air link, primarily useful for travelers heading toward the forested slopes of Alishan. That mountain area draws visitors for its sunrise viewpoints, cypress groves, and a slow narrow-gauge railway originally built for logging, making tourism the main economic driver behind demand for flights. Taiwan's dense highway and high-speed rail network has reduced reliance on short domestic flights generally, so CYI operates on a modest scale compared with the island's larger airports, serving a niche role for time-pressed travelers or connecting flights.
