Hsinchu Air Base — Hsinchu City, Taiwan

HSZ is Hsinchu Air Base, a military airfield in Hsinchu City, Taiwan, home to a major air force installation and closely associated with Taiwan's semiconductor manufacturing hub, the Hsinchu Science Park. The base hosts fighter squadrons as part of Taiwan's air defense network, given the island's proximity to mainland China and ongoing cross-strait tensions. While primarily military, HSZ has at times supported limited civilian or charter operations. Hsinchu itself is often called Taiwan's Silicon Valley due to its concentration of technology companies, and the air base's strategic location reflects Taiwan's broader emphasis on defending key economic and population centers.
