Taranto-Grottaglie Marcello Arlotta Airport — Grottaglie, Italy

Taranto-Grottaglie Marcello Arlotta Airport, identified by the code TAR, sits in Italy's Puglia region and is notable for its role in aerospace manufacturing rather than conventional passenger traffic. The airport hosts Leonardo's production facilities, where components for Boeing 787 Dreamliner fuselage sections are manufactured and later transported by specialized cargo aircraft. Limited scheduled commercial flights operate alongside this industrial activity, connecting Taranto to select Italian destinations. Grottaglie's aviation heritage extends to testing and experimental flight activities, including drone and space-related research initiatives. Set near the Ionian Sea coastline, the airport reflects a blend of Italy's industrial aerospace ambitions and the region's historic ceramics and wine-producing landscape surrounding Taranto and Grottaglie.
