Yuanmou Air Base — Chuxiong (Yuanmou), China

Yuanmou Air Base, assigned the code YUA, is a military airfield located in Yunnan Province in southwestern China. As installation infrastructure rather than a civilian facility, the base supports operations of the People's Liberation Army and is situated in a mountainous region known for its dramatic earth formations and dry-hot valley terrain. Yunnan's proximity to China's southwestern borders gives bases like Yuanmou strategic relevance for regional defense and training exercises. Public information about Yuanmou's specific squadron assignments and operational tempo remains limited, consistent with the restricted nature of Chinese military aviation facilities. The base does not offer scheduled commercial passenger service, distinguishing it from Yunnan's civilian airports.
