General Ignacio L. Pesqueira International Airport — Hermosillo, Mexico

Serving Hermosillo, the capital of Sonora state in Mexico's northwest, General Ignacio L. Pesqueira International Airport carries the IATA designation HMO. The surrounding area is known for cattle ranching, agriculture, and a growing manufacturing sector tied closely to cross-border trade with Arizona. The airport is named for a nineteenth-century Sonoran governor and military figure who played a prominent role in the state's political history. Traffic leans heavily toward domestic routes connecting Hermosillo to Mexico City, Tijuana, and other northern cities, alongside a smaller number of flights serving the United States. Business travel tied to the automotive and aerospace supply chains operating in Sonora's industrial parks makes up a significant share of demand. Desert heat defines much of the year in Hermosillo, and the airport's modern terminal reflects investment aimed at supporting the state's expanding manufacturing-driven economy.
