Ningbo Lishe International Airport — Ningbo, China

One of the world's highest-tonnage cargo ports sits just beyond the runways of Ningbo Lishe International Airport, underscoring how thoroughly trade shapes this corner of Zhejiang province. NGB connects Ningbo, a manufacturing and export powerhouse south of Hangzhou Bay from Shanghai, to major domestic hubs and a growing number of international destinations, serving business travelers tied to the textile, petrochemical, and electronics industries that dominate the local economy. The Ningbo-Zhoushan port complex nearby handles staggering volumes of container and bulk cargo each year, and the airport's own freight operations have expanded in tandem to support just-in-time manufacturing supply chains. Ningbo's old town, with its centuries-old Tianyi Pavilion library among the oldest in China, offers a quieter counterpoint to the industrial sprawl along the coast, though most air travelers pass through primarily for commerce rather than sightseeing. Continued investment in terminal capacity reflects the city's ambitions to reduce reliance on connections through Shanghai's larger airports.
